Windows 11 has officially launched, bringing a refreshed interface along with notably stricter hardware requirements than past Windows releases, including mandatory TPM 2.0 support and a more limited list of supported processors. Some otherwise capable PCs won't qualify for the free upgrade as a result.
Microsoft's PC Health Check app will tell you whether a given machine is eligible. If it isn't, that doesn't mean anything is wrong with the PC today — Windows 10 remains fully supported for several more years — but it's worth factoring into your next hardware refresh planning.
There's no need to rush onto Windows 11 immediately. As with past Windows releases, we generally recommend letting the first few months of updates settle before moving business-critical machines over.
