Setting Up a Guest WiFi Network on Modern UniFi Hardware
A refreshed walkthrough for setting up a properly isolated guest network on current UniFi equipment.
UniFi's current network management platform makes setting up a properly isolated guest WiFi network more straightforward than it used to be, with a dedicated guest network wizard and clear isolation controls built into the interface rather than buried in advanced settings.
Within the UniFi Network application, creating a new WiFi network and marking it as a "Guest Network" automatically applies client isolation and restricts access to your internal VLANs — meaning guest devices can reach the internet but not your business systems, printers, or servers.
For businesses with a physical waiting area or storefront, UniFi also supports a branded guest portal with a splash page, letting you present your business name and terms of use before guests connect, which is a nice professional touch at no extra cost.
